“My motto for the classroom is, “There is never a dull moment in K5A!” In my classroom, my goal is when they leave to enter first grade they would have had a memorable kindergarten experience. I am confident that they will remember the sight words and phonics they had learned, the numbers we added and subtracted, the sweet songs we sang, and all of the wonderful times we shared on the rug. Most of all I hope they remember that kindergarten was the best year they ever had.
My day does not begin and end with the proverbial school bell. Teaching is not my job. It is my life. My students are my constant companions. I pray for them, teach them, worry about them, laugh and cry with them. At the end of the school day, I carry them home in my heart.
This prestigious honor requires one who is selfless and dedicated to motivating, inspiring and encouraging students and colleagues to be the best they can be. A master teacher changes the world one student at a time. I believe over the years I have been a selfless and dedicated educator putting the needs of the child ahead of my own. I cannot think of anything else that I would rather be doing than receiving the hugs and smiles every morning.”
